Course Overview

Do your patients have cervical spines and neck pain? This course reviews the most current guidelines for neck pain and is perfect for new graduates, non-ortho specialists, and ortho specialists wanting a great hands-on review. Over 60% lab. Expect enhanced clinical reasoning and diagnostic/management skills for patients with or without referral.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Describe the diagnostic classification systems as described by the guidelines.

Integrate the acute/subacute/chronic staging of the guidelines into effective examination of patients with neck pain.

Differentially diagnose neck pain based upon the guidelines.

Apply evidence-based treatment techniques based on guideline classification of patients with neck pain.

2:00 — LAB: Differential Diagnosis
3:15 — Break
3:30 — LAB: Treatment Based Upon Differential Diagnosis

CE Credits & Approval

This course is approved by the New Jersey Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for 4.0 continuing education credits. It is pre-approved in the following states as a result of NJBPTE approval: AK, DE, HI, IN, KS, KY, MA, MI, MT, NC, ND, OR, PA, TN, UT, VT, VA, WI, WY, and Washington, DC. This course involves 2.0 hours of evaluative procedures to treat a person without referral. The following states do not require pre-approval of courses and/or have no CE requirements for PTs and PTAs: AL, CO, CT, GA, ID, IA, ME, MO, NE, NH, WA. Not sure if your state is covered? Jeffrey Bays, DPT

Dr. Bays received his Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science from Kean University, his Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Marymount University, and his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Arcadia University. He is Board-Certified in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and holds Certification in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy from the McKenzie Institute.


Dr. Bays focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic and spine disorders and emphasizes a hands-on, active, patient-centered approach to treatment. He has served as adjunct faculty for Arcadia University’s DPT program and is currently the Associate Director of the St. Luke’s University Health Network Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency.
